Stop It Goaltending AAA Training

Brian Daccord and John Carratu will be conducting the Stop It Goaltending AAA Training weeks which are specifically designed for youth AAA, AA and select goaltenders. Goalies will be pushed to maximize their abilities and will be challenged by the staff and their peers to perform at their highest capabilities.

This program runs Monday through Thursday and features 10 hours of on-ice and 10 hours of off-ice development. AAA weeks are conducted at Phillips Andover Academy in both July and August as well as the Foxboro Sports Center. If you are interested in, or if you have any questions about AAA Training please contact the Stop It Goaltending office at (781) 376-9000.

(Acceptance Required): Goalies are welcome to register for this program. If Stop It Goaltending determines that the selected program is not the right environment for the registered participant a director will contact you to discuss an alternative selection that would place the participant in the best training situation.

A Typical Day at Stop It Goaltending Training

Check-in

On Monday, goalies are greeted by a Stop It Goaltending Director in the front lobby where they receive a jersey and are directed to the locker room. Stop It Goaltending recommends that you arrive 35-40 minutes before ice time for check-in. In the locker room there will always be a staff member to help parents and goalies with any equipment needs such as tying toe straps or advice on how tight the straps should be on the pads. All staff members are also goalies themselves.

On-ice Training
Once they hit the ice, the goalies are greeted by the Stop It Goaltending Staff, which, along with the director, includes active goaltenders from professional and college hockey. Goaltenders are immediately separated into small groups of three for 25 minutes of goalie specific skating. At the conclusion of skating drills goalies take five minutes to re-hydrate and then break into rotating stations to work on specific skills for the next 80-minutes. Each station consists of one instructor and two goalies. Following the stations there is a second 5-minute break before game time. The on-ice segment ends with a series of fun and competitive games whic help reinforce the skills that were taught during the day.

Transition from On-ice to Off-ice
When the goalies leave the ice and proceed to the locker room they continue to be supervised by a Stop It Goaltending staff member. While in the locker room they have time to change into their off-ice training wear which usually consists off shorts, a t-shirt and running shoes. At this time goalies also have time to have a snack and drink to get ready for their off-ice workout.

Off-ice Training
Stop It Goaltending's off-ice program is designed to be goalie specific. A dynamic warm-up allows the goalies to get ready for the off-ice activities. Goalies will work on their speed quickness and agility daily though dynamic drills. Drills incorporate plyometrics, tennis balls, body weight exercises, and reaction balls allowing the goalies to improve athleticism. Goalies with also be taught a number of stretches that they can use year round and the day is always completed with a fun and competitive outdoor game.

Check-out
Following the completion of the off-ice segment, the goalies proceed with their equipment to the front lobby where they are checked out, with supervision, by a Stop It Goaltending Staff member. This concludes a fun and productive day. Please note that on Thursday our pro and college coaches hold on Autograph Session where they sign jerseys for the kids.
